Current and former regents agree: Comstock right choice for Nebraska

We are members of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents. We do not agree on every issue. But we agree on the candidate best prepared to represent NU Regent District 1: Brent Comstock.
Former Regents Dr. Chuck Wilson, M.D., Chuck Hassebrook and Bob Phares join us in supporting Brent. So does Lori McClurg, who along with her late husband, Regent Emeritus Jim McClurg, Ph.D, endorsed Brent in this campaign. Our group includes Democrats and Republicans who have represented rural and urban Nebraska.
The university faces consequential decisions about affordability, academic excellence, enrollment, workforce needs and public trust. Meeting those challenges requires a regent who asks hard questions, listens carefully and works constructively with people across Nebraska.
Brent has demonstrated those qualities. He is an independent-minded leader with deep Nebraska roots, a record of building organizations and creating opportunity and a serious plan to strengthen the university. He understands that a regent’s job is not to rubber-stamp the administration or use the office as a political platform. It is to provide accountable, thoughtful governance that puts students and Nebraska’s future first.
Brent has the judgment, independence and collaborative approach the work requires. That is why we support Brent Comstock as District 1’s next Regent.
